Log gases and random matrices

This graduate seminar deals with beta ensembles. These consist of N real random variables with a specific type of joint density, which generalise the joint density of eigenvalues of N x N Hermitian random matrices with Gaussian distributed entries. We will study the behaviour of beta ensembles when N tends to infinity. More details can be found in the file Contents.

Prerequisites

Measure theory and measure-theoretic probability theory. A small number of talks (see file) might require some basic knowledge in stochastic analysis or complex analysis.
