Animation of the Aztec diamond and its associated particle dynamics
The animation shows the shuffling algorithm of the Aztec diamond together with a dynamics on (interlaced) particles. The system of particle is very similar to the system of particles in the animation of a anisotropic growth of random surfaces in 2+1 dimensions. The only difference is that the background one-dimensional particle process is discrete time TASEP with parallel update instead of continuous time TASEP.
